A few first impressions after several days of use 🙂 This is a fairly specialised machine, so whether it offers good value depends on what you need. A conventional desktop would give you more general performance for the same money, but I wanted a compact system with plenty of shared memory for running AI models locally. For that use case it makes sense, and the performance so far has been good enough for my needs. Setup was not completely smooth. I had to spend some time sorting out the network drivers on the operating systems I tried, and wake-on-LAN was not always reliable after a full shutdown. Automatic power-on after an outage was also not enabled out of the box. The M.2 slots use PCIe 4.0 rather than 5.0, and the internal PCIe slot does not support the graphics-card setup I had planned. I would still have preferred OCuLink. The most interesting feature for me is USB4 V2. The 80Gbps connection gives the machine more flexibility and could be useful for linking several systems when working with larger models. It is not the right choice for everyone, but for a compact local-AI setup it has a lot of potential.

The system includes both wired Ethernet and Wi-Fi 7, and driver requirements can vary by operating system. Automatic power-on after AC loss is disabled by default and can be enabled in the BIOS; we'll be happy to provide the steps. I like the size and the design, and so far it has done what I bought it for. It came with Windows 11 Pro, and I had no trouble getting Ollama running on the AMD hardware. I tried a few larger models and everything worked as expected. Linux takes a bit more setup, so the software side could still be easier. I would also have liked an OCuLink port, although the existing ports cover most of what I need. In normal use the fans are only a little louder than my laptop. They are clearly audible with a larger model running, but that seems reasonable for a machine this size. Overall, I am very happy with it as a compact workstation for local AI.
